Joe Schmoe the Plumber

18 Jan

A cartoon that kind of summarizes what I have learned about drawing this week. My attention for detail and love of drawing has improved considerably.

Birds on iScribble

18 Jan

I subscribed to iScribble and created a private drawing for testing. The tools aren’t bad, but I prefer my desktop tools, or even my trusty pencil.

I also discovered that the minimal age to sign up for iScribble is 16 years. This probably explains the “colorful language” I saw during the chats. I guess if you have some online art buddies this is a fine service, because you can keep it private. Many public drawings are vandalized by pranksters, who think that scratching over other people’s drawings with broad strokes in a single color is so funny. Ha-ha. NOT!

That is all.

Bird In The Sky

18 Jan

Another Digital Doodle of a bird. This time a man-made bird.

The image is based on an illustration I found through Google Image. I also used Overlay on the Mac to test my drawing. I’m not yet that good at drawing man-made objects, so I need all the help I can get.

Now, this may seem not as impressive as the traced image of Will Smith I drew previously, but the point is to seek new challenges for your drawing skills, and “tickle” them so, that you foster creativity. I think that doing the same thing you’re good at over and over again leads to stale art, eventually. You constantly need to find that place where you’re just not good enough to pull it off, but if you keep banging on it, you will in time.

Will Smith

18 Jan

I saw this magazine print, which was asking for being drawn by someone. So why shouldn’t that be me?

The drawing was done by tracing in Art Rage 2.

Will Smith

I think it is one of my best drawings so far. I needed roughly 1,5 hours to draw it.
