Drawing Unknown Faces, part 70

22 Apr

I went to buy new art supplies this afternoon. I’m not yet buying the expensive stuff, but I did buy an A4 format (297 x 210 mm) spiral-bound sketchbook (FSC approved), so I have more room to draw. Now I seem to getting more skilled at drawing, I owe it to myself to use larger sheets of paper.

Drawing Unknown Faces, part 70

This man was in his wedding suit and obvious very happy. I liked his expression and the clear lines of his face.

The sketch was based on a photo I grabbed from the Flickr public photo stream. It was made with HB drafting pencils in approximately 30 minutes. Of course, I used the method of drawing faces from the Bridgeman book (“Drawing from Life”), which was very helpful.

That is all.

The book about wrinkles

Burne Hogarth has written a book about how to draw wrinkles and drapery. I just have received this book, and I’m curious if it is as good as the Amazon reader reviews led me to believe.

The Skull

22 Apr

This illustration of the skull is a copy from Bridgeman’s “Drawing from Life”. It shows the parts that are important from drawing the face and the head.

The Skull

I expected this drawing to be very hard, but in fact, is was very easy to draw. I’m sure there are some mistakes here and there, but the overall impression is good (enough for me).

That is all.
