Drawing Unknown Faces, part 83

26 Apr

This was a runner wearing an orange wig, who was already pretty tired at the point his photo was taken (presumably when passing the finish line).

The sketch is drawn with a fine liner. The beautiful part is that you can’t correct your drawing and you need to be more concentrated. I think I succeeded in portraying this runner accurately in roughly 20 minutes.

That is all.

Drawing Unknown Faces, part 82

I had some problems with this woman’s face. It wasn’t that she’s drawn wrong, but I didn’t see how perspective worked on her face. So while I couldn’t “get it right”, because it was already right, I left it as it was.

When I reviewed this sketch, my initial thought was that this woman’s chin wasn’t strong enough, but she really had such a weak chin.

This seems to be a kind of samurai fighter, which was much fun to draw. The straw hat and beads not only look nice, they also gave me the opportunity to close the lines on the sketch, so lines from several parts cross each other on the same places as in the reference photo.

This was a face with a lot of expression and easy to be inspired by.

So, I was able to do the whole process and get the same strong expression as in the original photo.
