Drawing Unknown Faces, part 142

Again, I’m going to try and tear apart the image and create a new image in the form of a drawing.

At least, that was what I planned to do. Unfortunately, even copying the photo into a drawing proved to be hard.

For some reason I don’t seem able to modify the original. I guess it means I just haven’t been drawing enough.

So, here’s the ink sketch I made of this photo.

Drawing Unknown Faces, part 142

I needed approximately 75 minutes to complete both the pencil sketch and ink the drawing. After scanning I did some image manipulation to clean up the scan.

Still I want to be able to get out of this “copy mode” and get into a more “creative mode”, so I use a photo just as a reference and not as a subject.

That is all.

I have the same problem. So I reverted to blind contour method to make more creative. Also try holding two pencils in one hand as you draw. But really your drawing although similar to photo is still different. And it can be made to change further with usage of medium and color scheme. I say take it further and see what you get!
