I tried a demo version of the live video application CamCamX and the help file told me that for best performance, CamCamX should be launched as the first video application. This means you have to reorder your login items, and you can’t do that in the Preference Pane. So here’s how.
I assume you have already added your application to the login items. If you don’t know how, it’s in the System Preferences (accessible via the Apple menu in the top left corner of your screen), Accounts (in the System section), Login items. Press the icon with the plus sign to add an application in your Applications folder.
Open a Finder window. In your user folder, locate the Library folder, then Preferences folder. In the search box of your Finder window, type loginitems Click on “Preferences” to limited your search to your current folder. If you’ve done everything right, only one file will be visible: com.apple.loginitems.plist. Double-click that file.
This opens the property list (plist) of your login items.
Click on the Sessionitems triangle, then on the CustomListItems triangle. Click on each item to see if it’s the item you want to drag up (or down) in the list. Click again to close the item. If you know which item you need to select, select it with your left mouse button pressed down and drag it to the wanted position in the list. Be sure not to drop it inside another item. Drop it between items. You will see CustomListItems group name light up and a horizontal blue line appear where the selected item will be dropped if you let go of the left mouse button.
Save the file (or don’t save if you think you made a mistake), and quit the Propery List Editor.
You need to log out and log in again to make sure that the login items are started in the order you want.
